Most recently, Samsung introduced not only its outstanding Galaxy Z Fold 4, but also the adorable Galaxy Z Flip 4. Samsung's latest Flip comes with many upgrades compared to the older Flip 3. Samsung has improved camera performance in low light, battery life, charging speed. And of course, the Z Flip4 boasts the latest Android chip, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is probably the most fun and playful phone this year. Below is a full Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 review in the article.
DESIGN
In reality, the Flip 3 and Flip 4 are almost identical in design, but we can see a few updates. Galaxy Flip 4's front and back covers are scratch-resistant as they're made of Gorilla Glass Victus Plus, the strongest glass on a foldable device. Meanwhile, the hinges are made of lightweight Armor aluminum, the strongest in the mobile industry, and ultra-thin glass protects the main screen when folded.
Compared to the previous model, the bezels around the internal display on the Flip 4 are thinner. You won't notice this unless the two phones are next to each other. The overall dimensions are also slightly smaller, even if the Flip 4 is slightly heavier.
The back and front are covered with a satin finish, which not only looks nicer, but also prevents slipping on flat surfaces. The whole charm of the Z Flip 4 lies in its flip design. Instead of using a foldable screen to turn a smartphone into a tablet, the Flip uses it to turn the 6.7-inch device into a pocketable smartphone with a single fold.
SCREEN
As with any good flip phone, the big advantage is the external display or cover. The external display of the Z Flip 4 remains visually the same as before, but some software changes have been added to improve functionality.
Themes set on the phone are now transferred to the cover screen, giving you more personalization, and you can also access quick settings like turning on Wi-Fi or airplane mode without opening the phone. Check the weather, access quick settings or whatever you need. And when you receive messages or messages from correspondence with friends, you can answer them without opening the phone. While these additions are small, it's nice to see the cover display getting a little smarter every year.
The internal display remains the same as the Flip 3. It's a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2460 x 1080 and a 120Hz refresh rate.
CAMERA
One thing that hasn't changed on the Flip 4 is that it still uses two cameras on the back (main and ultra-wide), but it doesn't have a telephoto zoom.
Samsung still uses a 12-megapixel sensor for the main camera, but it's a larger-sized sensor, meaning each individual pixel is nearly 30% larger. While all megapixels are the same as the Flip 3, Samsung claims that the main camera on this generation Flip 4 is 65% brighter.
The Galaxy Z Flip4 also has an improved camera system. The world's most versatile camera, the phone lets you capture life from any angle, ensuring you capture only the best. The Quick Shot feature allows you to take selfies directly from the cover screen, even allowing you to change the aspect ratio to show the full frame before taking the shot. Or unfold your phone, switch to FlexCam mode to capture photos hands-free or take selfies from impressive perspectives.
PERFORMANCE
The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip. It's Qualcomm's latest chip, and its performance is on par with some of the fastest Android phones out there. The storage of the phone ranges from 128GB to 512GB. There is no additional storage here, so choose wisely what memory your phone needs.
Apps on the Galaxy Z Flip 4 open instantly, menus scroll flawlessly, and graphically demanding games play smoothly.
BATTERY AND CHARGING
Despite the largely unchanged size and form factor, the Flip 4 comes with a much larger battery. It has a 3,700 mAh cell, which is 12% larger than the 3,300 mAh battery of the previous model Flip 3.
The Galaxy Z Flip 4 has significantly better battery life than the Flip 3. The Flip 4 now charges slightly faster at 25W, but doesn't come with a charger. The Flip 4 went from 5 to 23% charge in 10 minutes of charging, 5 to 47% in 25 minutes, and it takes about an hour and 16 minutes to go from 5% charge to a full 100% battery charge.
The Flip 4 also supports wireless charging.
SOUND QUALITY
While the very first Flip was released with a single speaker, the Z Flip 3 and now the Z Flip 4 use a stereo system consisting of one bottom speaker and another built into the earpiece.
There's no headphone jack on this phone, and there's no headphone jack in the box either, so you'll need to buy a pair of good-sounding USB-C ports or a USB-C adapter for wired audio.
SUMMARY
The Galaxy Z Flip 4 certainly doesn't stand out as a boring phone. Other than a slightly improved design, an improved chip, a bigger battery and a faster charger, it's essentially the same Z Flip that Samsung released last year. This phone is stylish, charming and interesting in ways that traditional smartphones will never match.
